Box Butte Family Focus Coalition was formed in 1999 to plan and develop prevention activities for children, youth and families in our communities of Box Butte County. From 1998 to 2001, the coalition received funding through the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation for a variety of community projects. Coalition members decided not to make an application in later years -- during coalition reorganization, it was decided inclusion of community planning and consensus was needed prior to such an application. Some of the groups we would like to include in our coalition are faith-based organizations such as churches, youth groups, the media, counselors, seniors services, government and other agencies and individuals that work with children, youth, seniors and families, education, law enforcement, health care and members of the hospitality industry that serve alcohol lawfully to adults, but wish to avoid substance abuse, especially underage drinking and smoking.
